Back to the track on Wednesday, after it being shut and not resurfaced over the summer.

A motley crew of FRR types at the track

I ordered a few ESP32 boards and accessories, to let me have a play with embedded AtomVM, and they arrived this week. I’ve got as far as flashing a Hello World app onto one of them, and now need to look into how to actually program them to do something fun and/or useful. They were ludicrously cheap – £2.37 for a development board with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, £6 for a little e-ink screen, and under a tenner for another development board with a 2.8″ touchscreen attached.

I got the train up to Norwich on Friday to see Pet Needs at Voodoo Daddy’s on the last date of their tour – incredibly it’s been nearly two years since I saw them last. They were great, obviously, and the support (So Good and Keep Flying) were both good too. It’s a nice small venue, which always makes for a good atmosphere, and I think at least one member of each band appeared on stage with each other band at some point.

Three quarters of Pet Needs (sorry Ryan!)

Saturday was such a nice day (considering it was nearly November) that Neil and I cycled out to Alton Water parkrun (our local one was off this week because of firework night preparation). The usual highland cows were in their field, plus a two-week-old calf that was being hand-reared after being abandoned by her mother.

No racing this Sunday, so I went for a long slow run (much more emphasis on the slow than the long) with Holly along the river path. That may well be the last chance to go that way this year without getting muddy feet.
